With so much to see and do along the Natchez Trace Parkway, you’ll appreciate these insanely helpful tips for what to see and when. If you’ve only got a short amount of time, these are the “must do” things to put on your list.

The Glenrock Picnic Area on the Natchez Trace Parkway will be closed to the public until October 2007. Travel along the Parkway itself should not be affected. This comfort station is located at milepost 364 in Wayne County, Tennessee.

When you're on the Natchez Trace Parkway, the mile posts which appear at each and every mile of roadway play a very important role in your journey. They indicate how far you've gone, how far you have left to go, and how much longer until you would find gas, food or lodging -- if you needed it.

Following are some of the gas stations, convenience stores and restaurants that you'll find if you exit the Natchez Trace Parkway at milemarker 429 and then turn left (west) or right (east) onto Highway 46.

For what it's worth, Milemarker 444 on the Natchez Trace Parkway doesn't exist. I'm not talking about the fact that there is no milepost to mark the location. I'm referring to the fact that there simply isn't enough roadway to accommodate 444 miles on the Natchez Trace Parkway.

My favorite stretch of roadway along the Natchez Trace Parkway is the part that goes from Highway 96 in Franklin to just past Highway 46 exit in Leiper's Fork -- heading South. Here's what you will see as between Franklin and Garrison Creek.

Watch for a new park at milemarker 437 on the Natchez Trace Parkway! They're currently building the ramp that will connect the park to the Natchez Trace Parkway and Highway 96 in Franklin, Tennessee -- Williamson County.
