Natchez Trace 600K Bike Ride September 13-14, 2008

| Comments (1)

If you've ever wanted to bike the entire length of the Natchez Trace Parkway, now may be the time.

...But this one's only for the "serious" cyclists!

This 2-day ride starts in Nashville, Tennessee and travels 300K to Tupelo, Mississippi -- and back.

And there's a 40 hour time limit.

Riders on the course must be totaly self sufficient as NO support services will be provided. Due to the limited nature of available services on the Natchez Trace Parkway, Controls (i.e. stores) will be located off of the parkway causing riders to breifly exit the course.

For more information, check out the Harpeth Bike Club's website. There you will find:

  • a route map

  • directions to the start

  • camping & hotel locations

  • food, water and supply locations

I've been reading through your blogs and really enjoyed them. Great photos! :) I'm researching the Tupelo, MS area. Would you know anything about Tupelo circa 1972?

Anyway, thanks for sharing all this info on the Natchez Trace Trail.

  • A row of bright yellow trees. This is how these trees usually look at peak season... so we're very close!
  • My final shot before exiting the Trace on Highway 96 in Franklin -- this bridge spans over Highway 96.
  • The view as you exit Sunset Park back onto the Natchez Trace Parkway and head toward Bellevue.
  • I call this area Sunset Park, because there's a sign as you turn in that says the parking areas here close at sunset.
  • This is my favorite spot to see Fall colors each year -- these trees are always among the most vibrant.

  • Some bright colors on the Natchez Trace Parkway, but we're still a couple days away from peak fall foliage colors...
