The only bad thing about driving on the Natchez Trace Parkway in the summertime (...especially the blazing hot summer days we've been having this summer!) is: there's no place to park in the shade!

Located in Wayne County, Tennessee, the Glenrock Picnic Area is near milemarker 364 on the Natchez Trace Parkway.

The Glenrock Picnic Area will be closed to the public until October 2007. Travel along the Parkway itself should not be affected.

For what it's worth, there's a band called Natchez Trace.

I found that in itself kind of interesting. However, I have yet to learn why they named their band Natchez Trace. Especially since they're out of Michigan.

When you're driving along the Natchez Trace Parkway in Tennessee, there is absolutely no passing from Milemarker 428 all the way til the end of the Parkway at Milemarker 444.

For what it's worth, Milemarker 444 on the Natchez Trace Parkway doesn't exist.

I'm not talking about the fact that there is no milepost to mark the location. I'm referring to the fact that there simply isn't enough roadway to accommodate 444 miles on the Natchez Trace Parkway.

The official map for the parkway says this:

However, I've traveled the Parkway from start to finish several times. And no matter how I count it, there's no way to reach the 444th milemarker on the Natchez Trace Parkway.

I'm often asked questions like, "How much bike traffic is there on the Trace?"

And when it comes to motorcycles, cars, trucks & RV's... "How many people drive on the Natchez Trace Parkway anyway?"
