Turkeys On The Trace: Big Ones... And Baby Ones!

Tis the season... for turkeys!

I swear, every time I've been driving on the Natchez Trace Parkway over these past 2 weeks, I have seen a TON of turkeys!

You see, every other day or so I've been taking the dog for a ride in the Jeep.

I enjoy the road time (and the daily reminder to get my bike out of the garage and actually ride it again!) The dog enjoys the fresh air -- he's been cooped up these past 2 weeks with a torn ACL. With only 3 good legs (and surgery planned next week), he can't do much but sit still these days.

Anyhoo, back to the turkeys.

Turkeys on the Trace aren't all that unusual. (Far from it.)

But every single day I've been on the Trace these past 2 weeks, I've spotted far more turkeys than usual on the right side of the road, as well as on the left side of the road. (Some deer too, but mostly turkeys.)

And not that I know much about turkeys, but I'd say it's baby turkey season here in Tennessee! These past couple weeks, I've been seeing lots of little tiny wobbly-legged birds playing follow-the-leader along the side of the Natchez Trace Parkway.

It's so cute. (Sorry, I haven't snapped any pictures of the babies.)
